Abstract

Abstract. The article deals with the impact of the ongoing sociocultural transit (transition to a knowledge society) on the goal and content of preparing future teachers in pedagogical universities for activities aimed at strengthening the health of students. The methodological basis of the study was: concepts that comprehend the nature of the current stage of the sociocultural evolution of mankind; holistic approach to the design of pedagogical systems; modern concepts of teacher training in the field of preserving and enhancing the health of children and youth. Based on the essential features of the knowledge society highlighted by science, the author comes to the conclusion that the constitutive quality of the subject of this society is the desire for creativity. So, the most important moment of professional pedagogical education in modern conditions is the formation of the future teacher’s readiness for health creation activities. This activity, in contrast to health-preserving activity, is, firstly, internally motivated and, secondly, aims the subject to expand the abilities laid down by nature. Training of a student for health creation activity at a pedagogical university involves the formation of a health creation culture - a lifestyle program and professional activity, which is manifested in the willingness and ability to preserve and increase the inherited natural potential, to organize the  personality development in accordance with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard in the field of health protection and strengthening students. The structure-forming element of this culture is the ideal of health creation, which sets the pattern of behavior with the goal of using efforts to promote health for self-construction of the personality. Training for health creation activity of a graduate of a pedagogical university involves the restructuring of the curricula of pedagogical universities, the inclusion in them of transdisciplinary disciplines.
